A four-member delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has engaged Sunyani Technical University (STU) to explore collaboration on advancing sustainable development through digital transformation.
The visit forms part of UNDPโs upcoming digital flagship programme to be rolled out in Ghana, Cรดte dโIvoire, Senegal and Mozambique. In Ghana, the two-year initiative, running through 2028, will be implemented in the Bono, Savanna and Volta regions to pilot a market-oriented Smart Agri Marketplace model.
Led by UNDP Ghanaโs Head of Exploration, Seth M. Akumani, the delegation explained that the model will combine physical hubs, digital services, applied agronomy and skills training to boost productivity, market access and inclusion for smallholder farmers.

The project also aims to accelerate digital development, foster collaboration, build capacity for farmers and agribusinesses, and establish sustainable financing to stimulate the AgTech market.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor Architect Prof. Evans Zoya Kpamma reaffirmed STUโs readiness to support the initiative, noting that the Universityโs mandate aligns closely with the projectโs objectives.

The meeting featured presentations from key STU officials and was attended by representatives from both institutions, underscoring a shared commitment to driving smart agriculture through innovation and partnership.
