A historic moment as Management of Centre For National Culture, Ashanti Region introduced the Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture, Mr. Wakefield Wisdom Ackuaku, on January 14, 2026, during the first Awukudae to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at Manhyia Palace.
He shared his vision to revamp the Ashanti Regional Centre for National Culture, a hub of culture & heritage. “We must make it appealing,” he said. The Executive Director was accompanied by a delegation that included Ms. Naomi Borley Alabi Esq., Deputy CEO of Ghana Tourism Development Company, Mr. Peter Marfo, Ashanti Regional Director of the Centre for National Culture, and Centre Management Members & Staff.

Announcing the 75th Anniversary of the Kumasi Cultural Centre, The Executive Director of NCC, presented KOTOKO HENE KUDUO, a beautiful golden casket embossed with the porcupine emblem, Otumfuo headgear and Adinkra symbols, as well as other Asante-inclined geometric motifs, to the Asantehene.

Asantehene’s linguist, Baffour Kantankrakyi, emphasized the need for Manhyia’ role in decision-making to preserve Kumasi Cultural Centre.
Mr. Peter Marfo said we should work together to preserve our rich cultural heritage and he also appealed to corporate organisations to support the 75th Anniversary.
In discuss collaboration in making the celebration a success. The anniversary will spotlight art and culture through workshops, exhibitions, music and dance, documentaries, training programmes, and the beautification of the Centre. Ms. Florence Nketia, representing Sunshine Volunteers, noted the organisation’s interest in engaging the Centre through training initiatives, including bringing international students to experience Ghanaian art and crafts during the 75th Anniversary season and beyond.
